Non-English major students’ perceptions of aspects of their autonomous language learning

Abstract The study investigated the perceptions among non-English major students of autonomous language learning (ALL) their responsibilities, ability to act autonomously, motivation learn English, and activities within outside class. data were collected using questionnaires follow-up interviews. Nearly 300 at a university in Hanoi, Vietnam, participated, 11 whom later interviewed. analysis suggested that preferred shared responsibilities. They relatively confident abilities autonomously moderately highly motivated English. Nevertheless, ALL conducted only on an irregular basis. Our results indicated gender did not affect implementation ALL. more students, frequently they practiced activities. A strong positive correlation was observed between self-perceived Some pedagogical implications also extracted.
